Our programs.

  • Women's Health

Each month, we have volunteer medical practitioners speak at Pamoja Women about women’s health. Topics have included symptoms of major diseases, stress management, women’s health, family management, preventive care, and other topics.

  • Transportation and Interpretation

Our volunteers attend medical appointments as requested to provide support, interpretation, and transportation. We also provide transportation and interpretation for other appointments.

  • Sister's Circle

We believe that women play unique roles in our community and have unique needs. We meet every Friday to discuss ways to meet the unique needs of women from across the African diaspora communities.

  • Education and Outreach

We provide mental health and wellness education to our community. We work to decrease the stigma around mental health issues and increase access to care.

  • New Mom Visits

A child is a blessing to every family, but it can be a challenge for new moms who are trying to navigate the changes in their lives. We catch up with new moms with the bundle of joy in our communities and help them navigate their new roles as new mothers.

  • Minority PTA

We organize and host Parent Teacher meetings during the school year. We partner with the Rochester Public Schools to answer some important questions that parents in our community could have regarding the education of their children. We also coordinate with RPS to implement culturally sensitive suggestions from our parents and teachers.

  • Food Services

We partner with Channel One Food Bank to offer hot, culturally appropriate meals and a food pantry stocked with culturally appropriate foods.

  • Youth Services

Our youth services include swimming, soccer, basketball, homework assistance, and counseling for East African youth in our community.

  • Exercise and Fitness

We offer fitness, wellness, and exercise classes in partnership with other Rochester organizations.

  • Cultural Awareness and Liaison Services

At Pamoja, we believe that knowledge, awareness, and acceptance of other cultures and cultural identities are critical to success. We take pride in our culture, and we are happy to share our backgrounds, identities, and festivals with others.

  • Employment Coaching

Women in our community have so much to offer in the workplace but often face language and cultural barriers. We provide information, referral and coaching to women seeking to enter the workplace.
